What is the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila all about?
Based in Binondo, Manila, the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila (RAC Chinatown-Manila) is a Filipino-Chinese non-profit organization under Rotary International District 3810 that aims to create young professional leaders in order to make a social impact to the entire community. The club is sub-divided into different committees in order to easily and effective coordinate tasks among its members; these committees include Professional Development, Club Service, Community Service, Public Relations, and the International Service committee.
How did the club start?
Chartered in September 15, 2011, the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila was formed by a group of Filipino-Chinese professionals guided by the expertise of its sponsoring club Rotary Club of Chinatown – Manila. With the officers’ combined efforts, the club was able to gather more than 50 members in its first recruitment year. Committed to upholding the Rotary motto “Fellowship Through Service“, and incorporating The 4 Way Test, the club promises to do its best to make a lasting change in the community, and provide an avenue to become good role models.
What makes the club so special?
Aspiring leaders and proactive professional Filipino-Chinese individuals with the passion to serve the community, are the foundation of the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila. These like-minded people shall create the lasting change that the community needs. Through young minds, the club is able to reach out to the youth, and apply its knowledge and skills to become more creative in providing help to those who need it.

District 3810 for pointing out points for improvement within the club, and for encouraging everyone never to give up. R.I. District 3810 is well recognized for all of its huge accomplishments.
Partnered with the Rotaract Club of De La Salle University – Manila, one of the top universities in the country
October 14, 2011 marked the sisterhood agreement with the Rotaract Club of De La Salle University – Manila. The club was very happy to forge its first partnership with the Rotaract Club of De La Salle University – Manila because several of the club’s members graduated from the same university. DLSU – Manila is one of the top schools in the Philippines, and they are widely known for producing some of the greatest minds, and powerful leaders in the country. The club looks forward to having a very close partnership with the Rotaract Club of De La Salle University – Manila.

How many members does the club have?
The club currently has 50 inducted members; 14 of which are officers. The very first induction was held at the President’s Grand Palace in Binondo Manila, with the club’s signature activity, the Moon Cake Fellowship event. Through the club’s motto “fellowship through service”, club officers are committed in creating regular fellowship meetings to ensure that all the members are able to interact and make friends with each other.
What are the goals of the club?
Since the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila envisions to create young leaders, the club believes that the following goals are needed in order to achieve this vision:
- To develop professional and leadership skills;
- To emphasize respect for the rights of others, and to promote ethical standards and the dignity of all useful occupations;
- To provide opportunities for young people to address the needs and concerns of the community and our world;
- To provide opportunities for working in cooperation with sponsoring Rotary clubs;
- To motivate young people for eventual membership in Rotary.
How does the club contribute to society?
Aside from fellowship events, the Rotaract Club of Chinatown – Manila ensures that it is proactive in joining, organizing, and partnering up with various causes. Some notable causes that the club has supported are U! Happy Events, End Polio Now Campaign, and relief goods distribution for typhoon victims.
