In light of Rotary International’s global initiative that launched the world’s biggest commercial project “End Polio” campaign, the Rotary Club of Chinatown-Manila and Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila respectively will staged a joint fun run event entitled “Knock Out Polio Run 2013” last March 2, 2013 at The Venice Piazza, McKinley Taguig.
The proceeds of this event will be used to support the Rotary’s unique role in eradicating polio through the PolioPlus Program. This program is geared towards immunizing children and saving them from life-long paralysis or death. The event was Co-Hosted by Rotary Clubs: Manila, Pasay MOA, Raha Sulayman and sponsored by The Venice Piazza, Chinese-Filipino Business Club, Inc., Business Innovation Gateway, SEAOIL Philippines, Inc. Uratex, San Yang, Unilab, Pascual Laboratories, Wilkins, Coca-Cola , Funlipix On-Site Photo Booth,CHInoy TV , BusinessWorld, HerWorld, Manila Bulletin, When In Manila, CIIT Philippines, A Runners Circle, Rainbow Glitters, Magnus Eventus, Race Chip, Ateneo Celadon, and Slimmers World. This fund raising activity does not only aim to raise funds to sustain the Polio Plus program but also to effectively increase our individual awareness about the said disease. This comes with the hope that we personally reach out to do something for that remaining 1% so that one day, we can achieve a polio-free society. The Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila Charter President John Alexiz Tan led the Gun Start ceremonies.
This year marks the 1st Charter Anniversary and 2nd Induction Ceremonies of the Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila. It started with the Opening Remarks of the Club President, John Alexiz Tan as he gives his message of gratitude and appreciation for the support of everyone in the celebration of ONE year in Service of the Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila. One of the highlights is by giving recognition to all the people who give their support to the club during their first year in service.
The Rotary Club of Chinatown-Manila President Rose Lim gave her Message and led the Induction of Officers after the Charging of Officers done by Chief of Staff Gabriel Trias while Club President John Alexiz Tan for the Induction of Member after the Charging of members done by District Rotaract Representative Mark Anthony Hernandez. Immediate Past District Governor Ernesto Y. Choa as Guest of Honor properly introduced by our District Governor Nominee Edmond Aguilar. IPDG Ernesto Choa gave inspirational talks to urge the members of the Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila to continuously work together with the sponsoring club, Rotary Club of Chinatown-Manila. And exert extra effort in reaching more people and touching more people’s lives. He congratulates the club particularly the members for their achievements and the very successful and wonderful One Year in service. The first part of the celebration ended with the cheers for the success of the club and the presentation of birthday cake courtesy of Award-wining cake designer and Rotarian herself Ms. Penk Ching.
