The Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila (RACCM) under Rotary International 3810, Philippines held its CHARTER PRESENTATION AND INDUCTION CEREMONY WITH MOONCAKE FELLOWSHIP at the President’s Grand Palace Restaurant, Ongpin, Manila last September 24, 2011. Having been launched just this year, the club is proud to proclaim that it has already gathered more than Fifty (50) exceptional and enthusiastic young individuals who want to create fellowship through service. The event was attended by merely a hundred guests and participants. Aside from the club members and officers, presidents and representatives from various Rotaract Clubs, Rotaract District Committee and RC Chinatown-Manila officers and members were also present to grace the significant event of the Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila. Needless to say, the event would not be possible without the support and guidance of the club’s sponsoring Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Chinatown-Manila (RCCM). RCCM Changemaker President Nellie King was the one who lead the light for the Call to Order ceremony and the Welcoming Remarks. District Rotaract Representative Clarise San Jose, was also present to give the inducting club a brief orientation. Serving as the ‘guardian angel’ or the direct adviser of RAC Chinatown – Manila, RCCM Past President Mylene Co had proudly presented the charter members of the said club. DDCC Gabriel Trias led the charging of officers and RCCM CmP Nellie King inducted the officers in front of all of the delegates and guests. District Secretary Edison “Magic” Ong gave his inspirational message to the newly formed rotaract club, he had shared some of his past experiences and learning on how was it really like when he was still a rotaractor decades ago. His stories had truly instilled inspiration and motivation to the minds of the rotaractors. District Rotaract Chair Victor Lao was also present during the ceremony. Of course, the Rotaract Club of Chinatown –Manilawill not be successfully initiated without the hard work and willpower of the club’s president, Mr. John Alexiz Tan. Mr. Tan have already enriched his leadership skills by joining various organizations and youth involvement programs. As a matter of fact, aside from being the president of this club, he currently holds high-leadership positions in other organizations as well. Burning with passion and determination, he truly believes that he, together with the club’s officers and members, can successfully lead RAC Chinatown –Manilato fulfill its vision and mission. Officers and Members of RAC Chinatown-Manila spearheaded the said event. The pinning of club pins was a significant start. The start of the journey of these young individuals had officially begun. As for the celebration of Mid-autumn Festival, the club service committee with the help and support of fellow officers of the club organized the mooncake fellowship dice game and everyone were truly in high spirits while playing, especially to those who had never played such game until that day. The game was spiced up more, for every table there’s a gift certificate from the event’s Sponsor; Yellow Cab. Furthermore, the grandest winner shall be granted an overnight stay and breakfast for two ( 2 ) at the Ilang Ilang Cafe, Manila Hotel. We thank these two ( 2 ) generous sponsors, for without them the event would not be as stirring as it is.
Last Sept 24, 2011 Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila volunteered in U Happy Events entitled “U CAN RESTORE” a medical/dental mission and nourishment program held at Delpan Sports Complex. The event was partnered with Project Pearl and Photo Kalye. The beneficiaries of this project were the 200 kids of Sito Damayan (Ulingan). The activity includes film showing, magic show, photo booth, kids’ presentation and gift giving. We were able to bond with the kids and see them laugh. We know that one way or another we were able to make them happy. Yes! You and I, WE CAN RESTORE!
Last Sept 6, 2011, Rotaract Club of Chinatown-Manila’s Charter President, Mr. Alexiz Tan, visited Malaysia. He was able to meet up with RAC Penang and exchanged token of appreciation & ideas.
It was really a great thing for RAC Chinatown-Manila to be able to exchange tokens with a Rotaract club out of the country.
